Philosophy: It is the mission of the Team Bliss Football Coaches to provide quality football instruction in a safe, positive, and learning environment.  Coaching is an awesome responsibility and every effort will be made to:
  • Increase the physical conditioning of the players
  • Instruct correct technique and position skills
  • Emphasise team work in relation to play execution
  • Instill individual responsibility
  • Motivate, communicate, and lead
  • Teach the players the necessary skills to compete

Coaches must have the freedom to develop these and other traits in the players. In furtherence of these goals our coaches will:

  • Explain the requirement
  • Demonstrate the technique
  • Have the player execute the technique/responsibility

If a player fails to perform the requirements due to lack of effort, attitude, or other reasons beyond physical ability, they will be advised of the consequences of their failure. The consequences will include:

  • Running
  • Decrease in playing time
  • Decrease in practice time
  • Loss of earned position

At no time will our coaching staff denigrate or humiliate players. The above mentioned disciplinary measures will be used. That being said, football is an emotional sport and coaching football even more so. Yelling is an accepted aspect of coaching football and volume should not be confused with denigration.

  1. Attention to Detail
  2. Desire to Learn and Perform
  3. Ability to Lead and be Lead
  4. Confidence in Yourself and your Team
  5. The Team is Bigger than any Player

Attention to Detail:

  • Running routes to perfection.
  • Hitting holes or gaps without delay.
  • Correct form tackling.

The Team is Bigger that any Player

  • It takes 11 to play every down.

  • Humbleness
  • Supporting your team mates
5 CHARACTERISTICS OF A GOOD TEAM PARENT

  1. Support the Staff
  2. Support the Kids
  3. Cheer and not Jeer
  4. Volunteer
  5. Have Fun!

Support the Staff:

  • The quickest way for a coach to have a player lose interest in a program is for parents to belittle, ridicule, insult, and question the competance of a coach in the presence of their child. The child will tune out the coach and his ability to learn the game will be affected not by his aptitude but by the attitude of negativity instilled in him at home. If in doubt, ask a coach to explain his methodology.

Support the Kids:

  • Encourage kids who make mistakes. Do not blame a failed play or loss on one player. Be positive.

Cheer and not Jeer:

  • Nothing sets a worse example for our kids like a parent in the stands ridiculing referees, opposing players, and opposing coaching staffs. Boo if you must, that is a right of a football fan, but please leave the name calling at home.

Volunteer:

  • Every team needs help with equipment issue, paperwork, fundraisers, and coaching. If you've got the time and patience, join the team!

Have Fun!

  •  Life is short and our children will be on their own in no time. Enjoy this time you have with your child and celebrate their efforts.
